Prime Minister must explain Rudd appointment as Minister
Thursday, 23 February 2012
Prime Minister Julia Gillard and Deputy Prime Minister Wayne Swan must explain why they appointed Kevin Rudd to the crucial role of Minister for Foreign Affairs despite claiming to know at the time that his decision making was “dysfunctional”.Supporters of the Prime Minister including the Deputy Prime Minister have variously described Kevin Rudd in recent days as having a “deeply demeaning attitude towards other people”, “great weaknesses”, a “psychopath with a huge ego”, a “chaotic manager” and that he “sought to tear down the 2010 campaign”.
The Prime Minister claimed this morning that Kevin Rudd had “very difficult and chaotic work patterns” yet appointed him to one of the most senior and sensitive portfolios in the Australian Government.
The Deputy Prime Minister claims that Kevin Rudd is “deeply flawed”, yet he apparently condoned his appointment as Minister for Foreign Affairs.
Julia Gillard must give a full explanation of her reasons for appointing Kevin Rudd to the Foreign Affairs portfolio in 2010 and explain how it was in Australia's national interest to appoint a person who is “deeply flawed” to act as the nation's representative internationally.
