WA gets running through Curtin

Joining around 42,000 Western Australians, Federal Member for Curtin Julie Bishop took part in yesterday’s annual City to Surf race through the electorate of Curtin.

Commencing in Perth city, Ms Bishop completed the 12km run along Kings Park Road, down Hay Street, through Perry Lakes and concluding at City Beach oval.

Completing the race in 68 minutes and 21 seconds, Ms Bishop said she was delighted to see so many people come out for the largest community participation event in Western Australia.

“Keeping healthy and active is important and I was encouraged to see so many families and people of all ages participating in this year’s event,” Ms Bishop said.

“The ever growing City to Surf has always had such an energetic and electric atmosphere with thousands of people cheering on family and friends, and this year was no exception.

“I congratulate all those who took part in the gruelling race, particularly those competitors who ran the 42km marathon and 21km half marathon, an outstanding effort.”

The event raises funds for the Activ, a charity supporting people with a disability.
